SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

About the Scholarship

During the Yolo Unity Awards Gala on November 5, 2026, we will present a Scholarship Award to a law student who lives and/or attends law school in Yolo County.  This scholarship is awarded to a law student with a demonstrated commitment to working in a unified manner to advance the cause of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal profession and/or community.  


Interested law students should submit the following materials: 


  1. Law School Transcript (or other transcript if student is a 1L and does not yet have a law school transcript); 
  2. Résumé; and 
  3. Essay (1,000 words max). Essay should demonstrate your commitment to working in a unified manner to advance the cause of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal profession and/or community. The essay must be signed by the applicant (electronic signatures are acceptable).


Artificial Intelligence Certification

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must include the following certification as the final paragraph of their essay. This certification does not count toward the 1,000-word maximum.


"I certify that this essay is my own original work. I did not use artificial intelligence (AI) or any generative AI tool, including but not limited to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, or similar technologies, to generate, draft, revise, rewrite, or otherwise create any substantive portion of this essay. The use of spelling, grammar, punctuation, and proofreading tools is permitted. I understand that any misrepresentation may result in disqualification from consideration for the Yolo Unity Bar Scholarship Award."
